The Father Climbs Down
Reading: John 1:1-14 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.....The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Devotional: The most profound truth of Christianity is this: God didn't stay on the roof watching us fight. He climbed down. The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. While every religion constructs ladders for humanity to climb toward God, Christianity reveals a God who descended to us. He didn't wait for us to figure it out or work harder. He saw our helplessness and intervened. Jesus is God's initiative, God's solution, God's rescue mission. This is why the gospel is called "good news"—it announces what has been done for us, not what we must do. Today, reflect on this stunning reality: the Creator of the universe loved you enough to come down and sort things out.
