Daily Devotional 7-2-26
One People in Christ
Reading: Galatians 3:23-29 - Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.
So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Devotional: The greatest tension in the early church was about who belongs. Jewish believers struggled to accept that Gentiles could be included without adopting Jewish customs. But the gospel demolished those barriers. In Christ, there is neither Jew nor Gentile, slave nor free, male nor female—you are all one. Perhaps you've felt like an outsider, wondering if you have enough spiritual pedigree to belong. Maybe church has seemed like a club with membership requirements you can't meet. Hear this truth: Christ has made you one with every other believer. Your background, your past, your lack of religious training—none of it disqualifies you. The only requirement is faith in Jesus. Stop letting red tape obscure the crystal-clear gospel. You belong because of Him.
