The Temporary Nature of the Law
Reading: Galatians 3:23-29 - Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.
So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Devotional: The law served as a guardian, a temporary supervisor leading us to Christ. Like construction cones on a highway or a tutor for a struggling student, the law had its season and purpose. But now that Christ has come, we are no longer under that supervision. The law revealed our need but could never provide the solution. Jesus fulfilled what the law could only point toward. Many believers still carry the weight of religious performance, trying to earn God's favor through their own efforts. This robs Christ of His purpose and us of our peace. Christ didn't come to give you another checklist; He came to set you free from the burden of trying to measure up. Today, release any performance-based thinking and rest in what Christ has already accomplished for you.
