The Longing Within
Reading:
2 Corinthians 5:1-4 - For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.

Devotional: Have you ever felt a persistent dissatisfaction, even when life is going well? Paul identifies this as our longing for heaven—the groaning for our eternal home. We weren't designed for a fallen world of pain, injustice, and death. That restlessness you feel isn't ingratitude; it's homesickness for a place you've never been. We pursue new cars, accomplishments, and experiences hoping they'll satisfy, but the ache returns. Only heaven will fully satisfy. This longing should redirect our focus from accumulating temporary things to investing in eternal realities. Today, recognize that dissatisfaction as God's reminder: this world isn't your final home. Let it fuel your pursuit of knowing Christ more deeply.
