Grace Before Works
Reading: Ephesians 2:8-9 - For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.
Devotional: "By grace you have been saved through faith." This isn't a formula you complete; it's a gift you receive. Zacchaeus didn't clean up his life before Jesus came to his house—Jesus came first, and transformation followed. Many of us reverse this order, thinking we must become worthy before God will accept us. But grace means God loves you while you're still in the tree, still tangled in your mistakes, still uncertain. Your response to grace—like Zacchaeus giving to the poor—flows from salvation, it doesn't earn it. Today, stop trying to work your way into God's favor. Instead, receive His grace with open hands, and watch how it naturally transforms your heart and actions.
