Set Apart and Unmistakably Different
Reading: 1 Peter 1:13-16
- Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

Devotional: The word holy means set apart, distinct, different. Peter draws directly from the call God gave His people throughout the Old Testament, reminding believers that the same standard applies today. Being holy is not about a list of things you refuse to do. It is about the unmistakable quality of how you live, how you treat strangers, how you respond when someone wrongs you, and how you carry yourself when no one is watching. Romans 12:18 urges believers to pursue peace with all people as far as it depends on them. That pursuit is itself an act of holiness.

Practical Application: Identify one relationship or situation in your life where pursuing peace has felt too costly. Commit today to taking one small, concrete step toward reconciliation or grace.
