Grace Is Not a Loophole
Reading:
Romans 6:1-4 - What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

Devotional: Grace is not a system to be gamed. As the story of the prodigal illustrates, the father's lavish welcome was not an endorsement of the son's recklessness. It was a response to genuine return. The robe, the ring, and the sandals were not rewards for bad behavior. They were signs of restored relationship for a repentant son. Paul makes clear in Romans 6 that grace, rightly understood, produces change. It is not a ceiling that gives you room to sin more. It is a foundation that gives you power to sin less. If grace in your life is producing no transformation, it is worth asking whether you are receiving it or simply borrowing it without intention to repay through changed living.

Reflection Question: Is God's grace in your life producing genuine change, or have you been treating it as permission?
