Seek His Kingdom First
Reading:
Luke 12:29-31 - And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.

Devotional: Jesus does not simply identify the problem of worry and walk away. He offers a remedy. In Luke 12:29-31, he instructs his followers to seek God's kingdom — his reign, his rule, his ways — as the active alternative to anxious living. Seeking the kingdom is not passive. It is a deliberate reorientation of your attention and your trust. It means asking, in the middle of whatever is unsettling you: what does God want here? What would it look like if his ways were fully at work in this situation? When you seek his reign, you are no longer the one carrying the weight alone.

Reflection Question: What area of your life have you not yet surrendered to God's reign and rule?
