Choosing What Is Best

Luke 10:42 - but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Philippians 4:6-7 - Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Matthew 6:33 - But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Devotional: Jesus told Martha that Mary had chosen what is best, and that it would not be taken from her. That word "chosen" is significant. Sitting at the feet of Jesus was not accidental for Mary. It was a decision. Every day you are surrounded by good things competing for the space that belongs to the best thing. Philippians 4:6-7 calls you away from anxiety and toward prayer, promising a peace that surpasses understanding. Matthew 6:33 invites you to seek God's kingdom above everything else. Today, make the deliberate choice to give your full attention to what God has actually asked of you, and trust him with the rest.
