The Danger of Anxious Living
Reading: 1 Peter 5:6-8 - Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
Devotional: Peter, who walked closely with Jesus for three years, understood the cost of allowing anxiety to lead. Anxiety blames, criticizes, and demands instant solutions. It sends the text before the thought is finished. It raises the voice before the facts are gathered. It turns a disagreement into a crisis and a concern into a catastrophe. Peter's instruction in 1 Peter 5:7 is a reminder that God actually cares about the things that are weighing on you. The invitation is not to pretend the burden does not exist. It is to hand it to the One whose shoulders are strong enough to carry it.
Personal Reflection: In what area of your life does anxiety most often take the lead? What would it look like to respond rather than react in that area?
