Daily Devotional 9-18-26
Caught at the Bottom of the Slide
Reading: Psalm 46:1-3, 10-11
God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.......
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Devotional: Sometimes life takes twists you did not anticipate. You go in one direction and come out turned completely around, moving in ways you never intended, uncertain of what happened in the middle. Psalm 46 describes a world that feels like it is coming apart at the seams, mountains falling into the sea, nations in chaos. Yet the declaration remains: God is our refuge. He is present. He is our help. The child who came down the slide headfirst was not afraid, not because the ride was smooth, but because she knew her father was waiting at the bottom. Your Father is waiting. You will not be dropped.
Personal Reflection: Where in your life have you felt turned around or disoriented? How does the image of a faithful Father waiting to catch you speak to that place?
