Daily Devotional 10-6-26
Belonging Before Believing
Reading: John 20:26 - A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”
Devotional: Thomas did not walk away. Despite his unresolved doubt, he stayed with the community of followers. He showed up the following week. Jesus did not wait for Thomas to resolve every question before appearing to him — He showed up where Thomas already was. Community is not reserved for those who have everything figured out. The church was never meant to be a gathering of the certain. It is a gathering of the seeking. Your place in a community of faith does not depend on the completeness of your belief. Show up, stay present, and let Jesus meet you where you are.
Reflection: Have you ever felt pressure to pretend certainty you did not have in a faith community?
