The Wisdom God Gives Without Finding Fault
Reading: James 1:5-8 - If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
Devotional: James makes a remarkable promise — that God gives wisdom generously to anyone who asks, and He does so without finding fault. He does not look at your track record before deciding whether you deserve an answer. He does not replay your failures before granting your request. The condition is not perfection. The condition is belief — a willingness to stop going back and forth and to anchor yourself to the character of a God who has proven Himself faithful. Doubt that is not surrendered becomes instability. Doubt that is handed to God becomes the beginning of wisdom.
Reflection: In what area of your life are you going back and forth, unable to settle on trust?
