He Has Prepared a Place - This Is Not How It Ends
Reading: John 14:1-3 - “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”
Devotional: Jesus spoke these words on the eve of His arrest, knowing exactly what was coming. He did not minimize the pain ahead. He looked past it. He told His disciples -- and tells us -- that the story does not end in the garden or at the cross or in the grave. It ends with Him coming back to bring us home. That promise is the ultimate foundation of a life without fear. Not that hard things will not happen, but that hard things are not the final word. Whatever you are facing today, hold onto this: it is not how it ends. Trust in God. Trust also in Him.
